How I Wrote This Song
November 2010 ……..A 3 day’s Konkani Family Retreat in Navelim, and I had to go there to check the sound, just the night before the retreat was suppose to start. So we plugged all the instruments and by 9 p.m we took a sound check and everything seemed perfect, just to start the retreat by 9 a.m next morning.
Suddenly we got a phone call by 9.15 p.m, saying that the worship leader who was suppose to conduct the worship  in the morning, was held-up with with some urgent work in Mumbai.
So I was asked to do the praise & worship in the morning, now to be honest, I had never done konkani worship, and I was  just a 3 months old  worship leader at that time, and would only lead worship with English song,  and  without knowing a single konkani worship song I wondered what to say…..BUT….. somehow………… I said YES, which I regretted very much later. Now since I had agreed, I tried to recollect which ever Konkani worship song that I might have sang or heard, but nothing was coming to my troubled mind. By the time I reached home it was almost 11 p.m and next morning I had to lead more then a 1000 people into worship, without having a single konkani song. Well to my luck, I found one of my mom’s Konkani hymn book, and I tried my best to learn some songs, but nothing seemed to go in my head. Now what to do ? was a big question, so I just sat quietly for a moment and I made a simplest prayer “Jesus Help Me” and after uttering these three word prayer, I put my Keyboard on, and I just sang ” Tunch mojo Somi Tunch mojo dev Vakhann’nni Tuka Kallzant thaun”, the melody and lyrics just seemed to flow and I wrote the song in almost 15 min. I was very excited and I went to sleep thanking the Lord for this  precious anointed song.
I got up the next morning, rehearsed the song just for a couple of minutes and hurried to the venue. The place was almost full with people, patiently waiting for the retreat to start. I walked up the stage after a very short intercessory prayer, by one of the team member and I could feel my heart pounding, after looking at the stare on the people’s face, wondering who this guy is ? and what would be my act?. I said my three word prayer “Jesus Help Me” and started singing the song, and to my surprise the people were singing along with me too, as though they had already known the song. It was an amazing experience, there was mighty presence of God in that place, I sang this same song for almost an hour and I could see people in tears, they were blessed and worshiping Jesus with all their heart. Glory be to God.
…and at that very moment I decided that my first  praise & worship album would be in Konkani, although my English album was almost ready.
“Vakhann’nni Tuka Kallzant thaun” is the first song from my debut konkani album titled “Jezu Tuje Nav”.
